Media Networks syndicated talker
Mark Levin held a signing for his new book,
"Ameritopia",
on New York’s Long Island
last weekend (Jan. 21st, 2012), over 1,500 loyal fans braved snow and icy conditions to come
out to meet “The Great One” and to have the chance to offer him their very
own personal
video message as they cheerfully braved the harsh weather and long line
to get in. Mark Levin's new book,
"Ameritopia", debuts at #1 in all four New York Times'
Best-seller non-fiction categories! This is a "first" in
publishing history for a conservative author and is considered a "grand
slam" in the world of publishing! Visit

...I
recently retired
and really enjoy listening to you all day now too. Please don't ever
change!

...I've heard some
songs that bring back a ton of memories, as well as a great selection of
offerings that I never paid attention to before, but they sound
excellent...

In the years 1959 - 1961 ...WIOS...was
the best thing I recall about school at that time. Glad to see it is still
there and will be listening to it this summer when we have our 50th reunion.
Terrestrial radio is still the clear, top choice for music discovery.
According to a new survey conducted for the National Association of
Recording Merchandisers, it shows that
six out of ten (60%)
musically-active consumers say broadcast radio is their top influence.
Listeners are telling us at
they discover "new" songs all the time. Thanks for making us your #1
choice!
Arbitron™
data shows that radio reaches 93% of the population each week over the age
of 12!
Triton
Digital™,
a radio industry leader in online radio streaming, shows in their latest
data that internet radio listening is up 20% for the year 2011!
We've noticed, too, on our media encoder server that you're listening to
online more than ever! Thanks for your ear!

Great
News!
Android
Phone Users can tune into WIOS!
Click on the Android or Mobile Link
at the top right of the webpage!
Download the
TuneIn Radio App (the
industry's most popular online streaming app!) for
Android phones and listen anywhere there's a network connection!
Note: When using TuneIn Radio in the Car
Mode, ask the Voice Search to "Listen to Adult Standards" in order to find
WIOS. There are other references to WIOS in the app that are not us,
and asking for "The Bay's Best" will bring up some other funky music
station. So asking for "adult Standards" will take you directly to
WIOS 1480 AM!
(iPhone users will not be
able to use the TuneIn app on WIOS since the original encoder stream is a
Microsoft-based WME stream. However, the majority of smartphone users
are Android OS and this open-license platform is completely compatible with
WME streaming)
Also:
Wi-Fi Radio Users can now
program their internet radios for WIOS!
(Just in case the Reciva.com database
doesn't populate your Wi-Fi radio set) **
Manually enter:
http://www.wiosradio.com/ WIOSListen.wvx
(Windows Media Encoder
Stream) into the "Tune In URL" setup of
the receiver through your computer software and then listen to WIOS anywhere
there is a wired or wireless internet connection!*
*Most Wi-Fi radio sets
are portable AND behave like tabletop units as well. They work wherever
there is a public, wireless Wi-Fi connection or can be connected with an
ethernet cable into a router, switch or hub. You'll receive a static-free,
buzz-free audio signal in total high fidelity on a Wi-Fi radio set, just
like you do on your PC! (A high-speed internet connection is needed to
minimize buffering. A 1Mbps minimum download connection is recommended. 256kbps is
probably the absolute slowest connection to listen to most online radio
stations, though page loading in a browser will be extremely slowed)

Troubleshooting
™:
AT&T Uverse™ users may not be able to listen to WIOS Windows Media™
stream with the Motorola™ 2210-02-1ATT modem due to un-configurable port
blocking. There is NO work-around for this modem. Uverse™ users
using a 2Wire 2701HGV-B for their HSI ADSL2/2+ service can use the
internal routing settings to permit passthrough for port 1755 to listen to the
WIOS Windows Media stream. If a Motorola™ Netopia™ modem came with your
Uverse™ setup, configure it like the 2701HGV-B to allow port 1755 passthrough. AT&T™ standard DSL users, Radio Wireless and Cable ISP
systems should work normally with no DMZ or port passthrough needed in the
router/modem. Please consult your ISP if you are have problems
listening to WIOS online. Symantec™ End Point Protection users must
disable "Enable Stealth Web Browsing" under "Network Threat Protection" to
listen to Windows Media streaming. Windows Media Player™ polls the encoder
at the server for the the bit rate and version number, and SEP does not permit
the polling to occur if "Stealth Browsing" is enabled. This is a known
issue with SEP and no work-around is available except to "turn off" the stealth
browsing mode. "Stealth Web Browsing" may be featured in other anti-virus
software including Symantec™ products like Norton Anti-Virus™. Users are
advised to check their anti-virus settings that may block Windows Media™
streams. This affects all Windows Media™ streams. If Windows Media
Player™ experiences garbled reception make sure that "download codecs
automatically" is selected under Tools/Options/Player tab, choose "Once a Day",
"Once a Week", or "Once a Month", depending on your preference. Other
times when WIOS cannot be heard may be due to unavailable network resources, ISP
failure, or Windows Media Encoder™ may have crashed on our end due to overload
of the server by exceeding 99 users. If you are still having difficulty
receiving the WIOS stream after following these troubleshooting steps, feel free
to contact Carroll Broadcasting at 989-362-3417 to let us know you are having
reception problems so we may make certain the streaming broadcast is being sent
from our studio. We can only give limited advice regarding your computer
or Wi-Fi radio set, we do not provide support for the Microsoft™ streaming
client, we only support the server (broadcast) end of the stream but we will be
happy to help whenever we can. If you are still having problems, feel free
to contact your nearest computer expert for assistance.
Streaming Technical: WIOS
uses WME9 on port 1755 and Windows Media™ proprietary AAC codec with a 40Kbps bit rate
for the stream.
Users will see a bit rate of up to 40Kbps at 32kHz (FM quality) in Windows Media
Player.
Android phone users will see bit rates between 30Kbps-40Kbps when using the
TuneIn Radio app for Android.
We have ceased providing multicasts in different bit rates to prevent router
congestion and streaming lock-ups on our end. The audio stream is broadcast in dual mono direct from our AM modulation
monitor, you are hearing the same signal that is being broadcast over the air
(audio processing included). If you have an exceptionally good AM receiver
with full 10kHz IF bandwidth, you will experience a hi-fidelity frequency
response closely approximating that of the streaming service. WIOS's music
is digitally "cleaned" and equalized to provide removal of most analog
noise, clicks and pops along with crisper highs and deeper lows on
older recordings where that range had been previously restricted.
